October 11th | Doors open at 1:30pm
Everyone is welcome. Beginner Friendly!
Early Birds! One entry ticket will be included with each raku purchase through October 1st. Your choice of either a pumpkin shape, or a vase.
This listing is for (1) Raku participant. Each participant will have a (1) raku piece reserved for them. All raku pieces have been thrown with the same amount of clay. They are similar in size, but will vary in shape. Pumpkins will have various carved faces unless you’ve chosen one without. Please note: Choice of pumpkins and vases will be first come first serve.
Raku pieces are limited! We can only fit in a certain number of firings within our time frame for the day, so when they are gone… they are gone!
*This is a family friendly event. Children under the age of 12 are welcome to paint a purchased pot, but will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Raku is a ceramic firing process characterized by its low temperature and rapid cooling technique. Raku originated in Japan in the 16th century and is associated with traditional tea ceremonies where its simple forms and rustic beauty align with the principals of wabisabi. This process was Westernized by a group of potters in the early 60’s including the infamous Paul Soldner. Today raku looks very different from its traditional roots, but remains a fun and exciting way to finish decorative pottery.
Guests are invited to decorate using various raku glazes, or choose a “naked” style with horsehair or feathers. You’ll watch as our team brings your piece up to temp in our raku kiln, and places it into a bin where we reduce the oxygen - that’s where the magic happens! Each guest will walk away with their own one of a kind piece of decorative pottery!
You are welcome to bring your own horse hair or feathers to burn onto your pots!
PLEASE NOTE: All sales are final - no refunds or credits. We plan ahead, and allocate funds coming in to make this event special for everyone. Thank you for understanding! :)
Get ready to make some new friends, enjoy the afternoon with some sweet jams, good food, and awesome artwork! See you soon!
