An evening of Kooky Candelabras, Characters + Creative Play with Bryan Wilkerson
Tuesday October, 13th | 5-9pm
We are so excited to welcome Bryan Wilkerson back to Beale Pottery for an evening that is guaranteed to be just as much fun as the work you’ll make.
If you know Bryan, you know that spending time in a workshop with him is an experience all its own. He is wildly creative, incredibly generous with what he knows, and has a way of getting everyone in the room to loosen up, experiment, laugh, and make things they probably never would have thought to make on their own.
For this workshop, we’re throwing the rules out a little.
Bryan will show us how to combine simple pre-made wheel-thrown forms with hand-built, sculpted, and carved elements to create one-of-a-kind ceramic candelabras full of personality. Think playful forms, strange little characters, exaggerated details, unexpected combinations, and plenty of Bryan’s wonderfully weird imagination along the way.
You’ll learn approachable ways to alter and build onto thrown forms while exploring character, expression, proportion, texture, and surface. But more than anything, this is an evening about creative play - getting out of your head, trying something different, and seeing where an idea takes you.
All skill levels are welcome. You do not need to know how to throw on the wheel. We’ll have the ceramic forms ready for you so you can jump right into building, sculpting, carving, and creating.
Workshop Details
5–9 PM at Beale Pottery
Limited to 18 participants
All clay and pre-thrown forms provided
Tools and studio materials provided
Work will remain at Beale Pottery to be dried and fired and can be picked up at a later date.
Come ready to make something a little kooky, a little unexpected, and completely your own.
