Sunday August 10th | 2-6pm
In this 4 hour skill-building course (6) participants will be instructed on the finer points of centering, pulling, and shaping with included demonstrations of large shallow bowls, jars + lids, and the basics of slip decoration. Students can plan on covering the following subjects:
~ How to go big and stay lightweight with an emphasis on increased height
~ Compression + Tension: when, how, and why
~ Fire is your friend: Shaping with torches and steel ribs
Workshop Timeline:
11:00-12:30 - Wheel work
12:30-1:00 - Snack break + recap/discussion
1:00-2:45 - Wheel work
2:45pm - Clean up
Eric Beale is the instructor for this course. He offers an impressive skillset learned over more than two decades as a studio potter. Eric believes in building consistency and control through repetition, and looks forward to helping you get set up for success in your craft.
Skill level required: Participants will need to have past wheel experience, and have a basic understanding of centering. Eric is able to foster those from intermediate - advanced.
