Handmade for Gathering + Giving

A Six-Week Hand-building Course with Milissa Beale
October 14th - November 18th
Wednesday Evenings | 5:30pm - 8:30pm

There’s something special about setting the table with something you made yourself.

As we head into the months of gathering when we’re cooking more, sharing meals, visiting friends and family, and looking for meaningful things to give - I wanted to create a class centered around making pottery for exactly those moments.

Over six weeks, we’ll use slabs, templates, texture, handbuilding and surface techniques to create a collection of beautiful, functional pieces for the home. Think butter dishes, casserole and baking dishes, serving pieces, trays, candleholders, small soap dishes and a few special pieces perfect for giving.

I’ll be making right alongside you, sharing the techniques I use in my own studio practice and helping you think beyond simply making a project. We’ll talk about proportion, handles, feet, edges, surface, pattern and all of those little details that can turn a handmade piece into something you really love.

Some projects will be guided, but there will also be room to make them your own. Choose your shapes, play with surface and decoration, and build a collection that feels like you.

You do not need to be an experienced potter to join us. This is a welcoming class for anyone who wants to slow down for a few hours each week, work with their hands, learn something new, and head into the gathering season with a stack of handmade things ready to use, share and give.

Come spend six weeks in the studio with me. Let’s make the good stuff - the pieces that get pulled from the cupboard again and again, passed around the table, wrapped up for someone you love, and hopefully kept for years.

Limited to 12 participants.
