Beginning Wheel | Eric Beale
Join Eric to learn all the basics for throwing pottery. Throwing on the pottery wheel is a lot of fun, but it takes a learned skillset to do well and start accomplishing goals. In this introductory workshop beginners will focus on the 5 essential steps to learning to throw: centering, opening, pulling for height, pulling for shape, and trimming. We hope to have you complete at least one item before your four hours are over, and give you a good feel for what it's like to throw clay on the potter’s wheel.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
11-1pm | wheel work
1-1:30pm | break for recap/snack
1:30-3:30 | wheel work
3:30-4pm | recap/cleanup
Eric has been throwing on the wheel for nearly 30 years, and brings a lot of experience to share in workshops. Passing on all the information that he’s learned over the years is something that he is truly passionate about.
